Sola Scriptura

Sola Scriptura:
The belief of Sola Scriptura is that the Holy Scriptures are the only infallible rule of authority. It does not mean that creeds, traditions, or councils are bad, though they are fallible. 2nd Timothy 3:16-17 states, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." Sola Scriptua teaches that tradition cannot contradict what the Word of God says.
My Stance:
I believe Sola Scriptura is true because it protects the church from unbiblical practices and innovations. When practiced the correct way, the church can be centered around the gospel and Christ. Sola Scriptura is not the same as Solo scriptura because Solo teaches that we only need the Bible without any creeds or tradition. Sola teaches that creeds and tradition are important, but are not infallible the same way Scripture is. Protestants are often misrepresented because people confuse the two.
Is Sola Scriptura Responsible for Liberalism in the Church?
No. In the 1960's and 70's we see the ideas within liberalism being popularized, for example Roe v Wade and the sexual revolution. These progressive movements affected every church in America, even the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church. This is why we see so many churches doing lgbtq marriages and supporting abortion because they folded to the culture of society instead of holding to the biblical teaching of scripture.
